Tragedy 03/09/2011
My niece, Grace, was in the tragic car accident outside of Crowell that occurred Saturday night. She was the passenger in the Suburban that rolled several times after they jumped a hill. She was driven by ambulance to Quanah Memorial hospital and then she was flown by AirEvac helicopter to United Regional in Wichita Falls. Upon arrival at 9 PM, she did not have a blood pressure, was not breathing, unconscious and unresponsive. She was finally moved to a room in ICU at about 1 AM Sunday morning. Her lungs are full of blood and are not working. She has been hooked up to a high frequency ventilator that is breathing 300 times per minute for her. They just took her off of the high frequency ventilator and put her on a normal one. It is unknown how bad her brain has been affected since she has a severe head trauma and because of the lack of oxygen from her lungs. However, they are hopeful that she will be able to survive. Joe and I stayed there with my mother in law, and came home Monday night at 2 AM. It is such a sad and tragic thing that has taken place. It is hard to understand sometimes. How do you cope with tragedy? What do you do to help others cope? This week all of our hard work comes down to a celebration. We get to show the state of Texas what we are made of! I don't know about you guys, but I hate the cold weather! Ice on the road, dry skin, dandruff and static are not my friends! However, I love spring time when everything starts anew.
